Maximum torque is increased from an already healthy 600 N.m to 690 N.m. The result of this increased performance means an improved claimed 0-100 km/h sprint time of 3,6 seconds.
The tuner has also revised the exhaust system by fitting a muffler system said to offer the 2,9-litre V6 engine with an enhanced snarl, whereas the dual oval exhaust exits of the standard model are replaced with a 102 mm carbon quad-pipe affair.
The new add-on parts at the rear are also made from glossy visual carbon – the rear skirt add-on as well as the spoiler. But this is not a view to be enjoyed for long, because the ABT RS5-R will usually disappear again in a fraction of a second.
ABT fits far more aggressive 21in wheels (two inches up on standard) and some notable aerodynamic bits, including dive planes on the front bumper.
The individual interior design, including partial leather seats with RS5-R logo, ABT gear shift cover (carbon), ABT RS5-R “1 of 50” badge and many other extras. This turns the ABT RS5-R into a truly fascinating overall package.
Just 50 ABT RS5-Rs will be made, each with an appropriate plaque inside its far more carbon-clad interior. There aren’t prices yet, but they’ll likely be announced when the car is revealed at the 2018 Geneva motor show.
