Here are 10 of the most exciting cars that were introduced in 2017 Auto Show Shanghai.
10. Fengchao Fun Concept
At the 2017 Shanghai Motor Show, Toyota unveiled a new concept dubbed the Fengchao Fun. The sedan very much resembles the 2018 Camry.The new Camry sits on a Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) chassis, which also underpins the Prius. In Shanghai, the automaker is focusing on its modular unibody automobile platforms in a big way, and the Fengchao Fun is a highlight of that presentation.
9. Chery Tiggo Sport Coupe
Chery arrived to this year’s show with the Tiggo Sport Coupe Concept that looks ready to compete against stylish compact crossovers like the Toyota C-HR and Nissan Juke.
The company declined to detail the system but revealed the steering wheel can be used to play video games while the car is in automatic driving mode.
Chery doesn’t offer any powertrain details, but the concept would feature the company’s autonomous technology, which is currently under development.
8. MG E-Motion Concept
The storied British sports car brand has been without a sports car ever since China's SAIC took it over more than a decade ago.
The two-door, two-plus-two seater promises to rival a Tesla Model S for performance with the ability to accelerate from 0-100km/h in under four seconds and a driving range of over 500km between battery charges, but at a fraction of the cost.
7. Lynk & Co Concept
With the unveiling of its second planned-for-production vehicle, the 03 concept sedan, Lynk & Co took another step forward in its plan to disrupt the automotive industry. In addition to previewing the concept’s styling, the nascent Geely-owned startup announced that its cars will come with free data connectivity and a lifetime warranty on every car, without giving details on the terms.
6. The Nio ES8
The Nio ES8, Nio's second model and first mass-market car has been revealed at the Shanghai motor show.The ES8 is a seven-seat SUV with a length of over 4978mm.It also has a swappable battery that will “provide a charging experience that surpasses refuelling at gas stations.”
First deliveries are slated for 2018, with an official sales launch coming later in the year.
5. Jeep Yuntu Concept
It's also entirely possible that this concept is a preview of a new SUV designed just for the Chinese market. it offers seating for seven passengers spread out over three rows of seats.While Jeep has confirmed that the Yuntu utilises a plug-in powertrain, no technical details or specifications have been revealed.
4. Audi E-Tron Concept
The Sportback has a sportier profile, mixing the coupe-style roofline of its existing A7 with a high-riding crossover, and a softer, less angular design language than it has become accustomed to rolling out.
It also has three electric motors capable of delivering 370kW of power and a lithium-ion battery pack that produces a driving range beyond 500km and can be recharged wirelessly within 30 minutes.
3. Volkswagen I.D. Crozz Concept
All-electric I.D. Crozz concept joins the brand’s I.D. and I.D. Buzz predecessor concepts by offering headlights that can wink, squint, and even stare at people and objects.
Motivation for the I.D. Crozz comes courtesy of a 101-hp front motor and a 201-hp rear motor for a combined 302 horsepower.
Top speed is a claimed 112 mph, and driving range is listed at 311 miles under the notoriously optimistic New European Driving Cycle (NEDC).
Additionally, Volkswagen asserts that the crossover’s battery pack can be recharged to 80 percent full in only 30 minutes with a DC fast charger.
2. Mercedes-Benz A-Class Sedan
The German brand showcased its intentions in Shanghai with the near production-ready Concept A, a car that also previews a contemporary new design that is expected to be used across the range, which will still include the A-Class hatch, CLA four-door coupe and Shooting Brake, GLA SUV and potentially another new variant in a drop-top crossover to rival the Range Evoque Convertible.
1. Chevrolet FNR-X Concept
The concept vehicle retains Chevrolet's signature powerful, attractive design language through clear, masculine lines. The model's intelligent adaptive control systems, active grille shutters and switchable wheel blades adjust automatically during high-speed driving, reducing wind drag.
The outstanding aerodynamic performance is further enhanced by front and rear spoilers and side skirts that move up and down in accordance with different driving modes.Chevrolet says that the plug-in hybrid EV can switch between its engine and electric motor (no details were provided on either).
